Ah, but families are moving in, just that they are families of the prisoners at Red Onion, Wallens Ridge, and Lee Prison.
Gate City's enrollment has been climbing steadily the last 6 years or so. Early 2000s just had a little over 500 now we are at 681.
It is as close as you can get to Tennessee without going over the line. The population of the northernmost counties has dropped but the counties that border E. Tennessee have increased the pop. has just moved around a little that's all.
